This Friday, February 22, Wester's Student Council will host a Valentine's Dance for Wester students. The dance is described as "semi-formal" and will be held in the Wester gym. The cost for students to attend is $10 which includes pizza and water. Other concessions will be available to purchase. The dance begins at 7:00 pm and ends at 9:00 pm.

Students who are 8th graders who will attend Mansfield High School can still try-out to be a Gold Duster (member of the varsity drill team) by contacting the fine arts office and filling out an attendance verification form. The office is located inside of Ben Barber. The form will be due February 8 by 6:00 pm. Questions can be addressed to Nicole Numa at NicoleNuma@misdmailmail.org.

Golf tryouts will be held on Feb 11-13. Students can sign up in the boys or girls locker rooms or Coach Runyan's room (A-15). Students will need their own golf clubs to try-out. Tennis tryouts will be Feb 11-14. Students should see Coach Wood in C-7 to sign-up and get information about tryout locations. Players must have their own racquets. Track & Field Tryouts for all 7th graders and 8th graders who are currently not in athletics are Feb 19-22 after school at the track from 4:30-5:45. Tryouts for 8th graders who are in athletics will be Friday Feb 22 after school. Students can sign up in the girls or boys locker room, PE gym, Coach Maxfield's room (B-13) or Coach Gray's room (C-15).

Both Summit High School and Mansfield High School will be holding parent meetings for parents of current 8th graders who will be attending high school next school year. Mansfield HS parent meeting - Held on February 12 at 6:00 in the MHS Varsity Gym Summit HS parent meeting - Held on February 12 at 6:30-8:00 - rotations begin at 6:30.

On January 23, students competed in the library in a Geography Bee. Participants stayed in the competition by answering geographical questions correctly. There will be a meeting for parents of 8th graders who will attend Mansfield High School next year on February 12. The meeting will take place at 6 PM in the MHS Varsity Gym. Please enter through the side doors marked Gymnasium. These doors face Miller Road and are closest to the practice fields.

Battle of the Books informational meeting is being held on January 24 right after school in the library. Students will have an opportunity to order t-shirts and plan with their team. The school competition will be held at 4:30 on March 5 at Wester with the winning team representing the school a the district competition on March 29.
